I do know something about diabetes. I was diagnosed in 1996 with type ll. In 2006 I noticed a small sore on my left big toe. It kept getting bigger and one night I was at my friend’s house and he couldn’t get an intelligent response from me so he called the emergency squad and hey took me to the ER. I had gone Septic, which means poison was circulating through my body and it messed up my brain functions.

My big toe had gangrene and had to amputated. About 3 months later the next toe down the line went bad and had to be amputated. That happened again and the docs decided to amputate the front part of my foot. That was in 2007 and it still hasn’t healed completely.

6 months went by and the big toe on my right foot went bad. To cut this short they took off two more toes then decided to take the front part of that foot too.
I’m still waiting for that one to heal.

I know a lot of people, when they are told they have diabetes, go into denial immediately. They don’t feel any different so they don’t act any different… no lifestyle changes. Let me tell you that diabetes is real and nothing to take lightly. I have been riding an electric scooter for 2-1/2 years and I know what I am talking about.

My word, Doug, thank you so much for reading and commenting – I had no idea! We have “known” each other for over ten years online but I really did not know about the seriousness of this illness from your end.

I am so sorry this has happened to you and hope at least one person will PAY ATTENTION and take this threat seriously!

Thank you for being such a big part of my online life for all of these years and God bless you, Doug!
