Guest Post from my wonderful friend, Lynette Patterson, of Unlock Your Metabolism.
A calorie is not just a calorie as so many weight loss “gurus” want you to believe.
Sure… it’s important to pay attention to the number of calories you consume,
but it isn’t just about “calories in/calories out”.
Choosing foods that increase metabolic rate is vital, as they also happen to be
the foods that your body understands and can process. And when your body
effortlessly digests and utilizes the calories and nutrients you eat,
you lose weight and gain health.
So … which foods are best?
To reach and stay at your best weight, the foods listed here are awesome.
They are slow burn foods which helps regulate your metabolism
and provide nourishment and energy for hours.
1. Eggs – are easy to prepare, are tasty and are full of protein and nutrients.
2. Berries – berries have an abundance of nutrition, including antioxidants.
3. Nuts & nut butter – perfect snack time foods.
4. Steel cut oats – great for breakfast and when topped with nuts and berries
is an amazingly healthy meal.
5. Fish – any fish is great but salmon, mackerel and other fatty fishes are even better.
6. Whole grains like quinoa are a great source of fiber and omega fatty acids
and quinoa has a ton of protein. Sprouted whole grains are best.
7. Low fat diary – cheese, milk, and yogurt make great smoothies and healthy snacks,
if you don’t have an allergy.
8. Olive oil is extremely healthy and tastes great on a salad
with a little apple cider vinegar (which has its own set of health benefits).
9. Dark leafy greens – spinach, kale, chard and other dark leafy greens
are among the healthiest foods on this planet.
10. Beans – beans are filling, full of protein and fiber and easy to prepare.
And there are so many types of beans you’ll never get bored.
11. Grass fed beef, bison, and buffalo – lean protein absent of chemicals
from industrialized farming and processing.
If you want to see quick results, skip the starvation diets.
And by the way, eating junk, fast and processed food is a starvation diet –
you may be giving your body plenty of calories but you are starving it of needed nutrients!
Instead, focus on eating healthy foods that allow your body to hum like an efficient machine.
It will thank you for it through shiny hair, clear skin and a lean, toned body.
thanks so much, Lynette!
